Robyn
Two years ago, I saved up my pennies from working in a bakery in
a grocery store and I spent it all on a brand new horse. That is how I
ended up with my new pride and joy, a registered Paint filly that I named
Robyn. We traveled all over Michigan looking for the perfect weanling for
me to buy, and it ended up that she was right here, in my hometown. She
was easy to pick out, I walked into the herd of mares and foals, and this
cute little filly walked up, and checked me out right away. I guess she
thought that I was ok because she followed me around and got in my way
when I was trying to look at the other babies. I got a good deal on my
horse, since I was in 4-H and she was going to a good home, and also because
they made me halter-break her myself, the owners reduced the price on her.
I brought
her home when she was about 4-5 months old I think. She's so cute. I have
taken her for two years to the Muskegon County All-Breed Futurity. She
has done well both years. The first year she took 6th place, but this last
year, as a yearling, she took a third place.
I have also taken her
to the fair both years that I have had her. I figured that it would be
a good experience for her as a young horse. As a weanling, she took first
in her class of two, but the yearling and two year old horses beat her
out in the Grand and Reserve Class. As a yearling however, she again took
first in a larger class of yearlings, and she also became the Grand Champion
Young Horse. (beating the reserve horse from the year before)
Again, I was so proud of her.
She did well in the In-hand trail class, where you lead the horse
through the obstacles. Also despite the fact that she got tangled in her
rope and ran away from me in longe line, we took second place out of two
horses in our class.
